Anna Faris Will Do Playboy
Calm down there guys, her career hasn't tanked enough for Anna Faris to begin entertaining the same ideas you were entertaining after reading the title of this post. Nope, instead, Faris will star in an untitled college campus comedy for Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison. And, in the pic, she'll play an ex-Playboy bunny who packs her bags and moves into the lamest sorority house on campus in an attempt to make this group of girl nerds more popular. I imagine it will be something like Ferris Bueller meets Revenge of the Nerds ... except with females. Perhaps we can call it Van Wilder 3: The One Where Anna Faris Shows Up to Deliver One or Two Laughs?
Penned by Legally Blonde (and She's the Man, and Ella Enchanted, and ... do you a spot a theme yet?) scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kristen Smith, pic looks to be another female-centric fish-out-of-water comedy and should fit right in alongside Lutz and Smith's other films. Granted, it doesn't appear to be the most mouth-watering concept, but I can see it having potential. Lutz and Smith know how to write entertaining comedy for a mass audience, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit interested in a Revenge of the Nerds-type reversal. Only problem is can they find a group of Hollywood actresses who can play "lame?" We already know there's plenty of dorky guys out there, but there aren't many recent films that feature an abundance of nerd-ish girls. Who would you cast? (Here's where someone will inevitably say, "Well, they already cast their first lame actress -- Anna Faris!")

Man, this is gonna make me sound like such a loser, but...
I find it strangely irritating that you use the term "pic" instead of simply saying "the movie" or "the film". You're not writing for Variety or the Hollywood Reporter, so why adopt their jargon? Unless you're just so used to reading trades all the time that the jargon seems second nature. Or maybe you're hoping to get a job writing for a trade, in which case it's good to get into the practice of speaking their language.
Trades use terms like "pic" and "BO" ostensibly to reduce text, save space, and maximize the info they can pack onto each page. Blogs, being virtually limitless, have no such constraints. Using the jargon outside of the trades can be confusing for readers who aren't used to it, and it also makes the writing seem inauthentic.
I dunno. Sorry for the nitpicky critique. I guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Brant, I've always used the word 'pic' because that's just the way I write. Usually, I'll rotate the words film, movie, flick and pic just so I don't sound repetitive. But that's just me. And that's the only reason I do it. Since this is the first time anyone has mentioned it in a comment, then maybe I'll stop using it if it's confusing people. But it didn't confuse you, and no one else has brought it up. So I'll take it into consideration; thanks for the feedback.

I can't see how that terminology could ever cause confusion to anyone reading a tabloid, let a specialist blog such as this.

Anna Faris has consistently been far better than the source material she's been given (except in the cases of Brokeback Mountain and Lost in Translation, where she was as good as the source material) and I keep waiting for somebody to give this girl the huge break she deserves. Why haven't more great directors snatched her up? She's good the comic timing of a god, and is just as willing as any of the boys to humiliate herself for a joke. She's awesome.

Say what you will, Anna Faris has stolen many scenes in films. If I come across Just Friends and Anna Faris is on screen I have to watch because her characterization of a psycho pop princess killed me.
